On the base E 300 trim, the E-Class is fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Good for a hearty 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, the four-cylinder syncs with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while the 4MATIC® all-wheel system is offered as an option.
And we certainly can't fault the E 300 from a fuel economy perspective, either. When had in rear-drive form, for example, it's estimated to achieve and impressive 25 mpg combined (22 city/30 highway).
