The year began for Mercedes-Benz with the "best results in company history," according to a press release, "marked by double-digit growth in January and February," and the 87th Geneva International Motor Show of March 2017 fame sure showed the momentum, with the automaker unveiling a "big stage" of "sporty elegance" replete with world and European premieres of a host of new vehicle models.
A "renewed and expanded" Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet offering, open-air and seating four, crowned the eponymous family, its long bonnet, taut soft top and the muscular rear delivering on a sporty aesthetic in keeping with the vehicle's powerful engine and comfortable chassis, as well as its Widescreen Cockpit and state-of-the-art assistance systems. An E-Class coupe and new GLA model, appearing for the first time in Europe, close behind.
One of the more eye-catching four-door high-performance hybrid-powertrain dynamic fastbacks to grace the stage, the Mercedes?AMG GT Concept coupe showed us a glimmer of the future of performance vehicles, bedecked with the EQ-Power+ moniker to identify the vehicle's intelligent electrified drive and offering a crushing 0?100 km/h acceleration in as little as three seconds. But the GT wasn't without everyday use, as the car likewise offers a spacious interior under its large rear lid.
The world premieres of the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine-equipped Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ Estate and GT C Roadster Edition 50 vehicles likewise didn't fail to turn heads, offering the feel of a sports car paired with ample luggage capacity. And where would we be without smart offerings? Mercedes-Benz put the finishing touches on its Geneva showing with the fortwo cabrio BRABUS edition #2 and forfour crosstown, the former powered by a zippy 66 kW (90 hp) three-cylinder turbocharged engine under the precise control of a twinamic 6?speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the latter offers a 66 kW (90 hp) engine and a five-speed manual gearbox, each with its special trim elements and distinctive sills to showcase crossover visuals.
Needless to say, there's further excitement coming down the metaphorical pipe from Mercedes-Benz.
