Mercedes-Benz USA states that this defect in the airbag that exists in Model Year 2005-2015 cars may contain these airbags with the defects. This was a decision made by TK Holdings, Inc ("Takata") who decided there was a defect that needed a recall. Mercedes-Benz USA through its parent company Daimler AG is taking all neccessary steps to alleviate this ongoing situation.

Mercedes-Benz vehicles potentially affected by this defect are passanger-side airbags. During regular deployement of this airbag, the inflator inside your vehicle has the potential to break and rupture as a result of high internal pressure. This condition is more likely to occur if your vehicle has been exposed to high levels of absolute humidity for extended periods of time. This condition is more likely to occur if the Mercedes-Benz vehicle has been exposed to high amounts of absolute humidity for multiple extended periods of time. As a result of a rupture, hypothetically speaking, could result in metal fragments hitting the driver and/or other occupants of the vehicle, potentially causing injury or death.

During late January of 2016, the Takata brand had informed the National Highway Traffic Saftey Administration (NHTSA) that this problem was present. Action was taken with the NHTSA and Takata to conjure up a solution. To everyones disadvantage, the redesigning of an airbag module as a very time-intensive move with all the different factors that are involved with that. Because of this, it will take time to go through every factor such as design, testing, certifying and manufacturing to reach the maximum echeleon of quality. Filling out the form below will ensure you these parts along with free servicing of your vehicle so the part can be installed. Until then, no sort of action is required from you.

We apologize a million times through and hope you can accept that from us. This inconcenience is unacceptable and we are doing all that we can to alleviate the situation that you have faced. The commitment of the entire Mercedes-Benz organization in that we have no higher prioty than fixing this problem so you can have your peace of mind back.

My best wishes,
